Yes, I’m alive! Our girls have been keeping me super busy and are entering their “fussy” period, so it’s been taking me a bit longer to put together blog posts; but I guess that’s expected with newborn twins. I’ve had a few projects on my radar that I’ve been wanting to dig into, I’m just learning that things take a little longer when you have kids!
Our bedroom has been a slow moving decorating process. I painted it white last year before I was expecting, made a new headboard, got new lighting, and hung a few wedding pictures, but for the most part, the design of the room has been put on the back burner. We decided to renovate and needed to focus on the nursery, so all of our other house projects were pretty much put on hold.
I’m all about decorating with what you have, so we’ve switched a few things around here and there, moving a small dresser we had in our room to the girls’ room, and moving the white shag rug from our room to the nursery as well. We brought the oriental rug to our room, which changed up the color scheme a bit. In hopes of bringing some sort of harmony to our room of mismatched furniture, I’ve been looking at new bedding fabrics to coordinate with the oriental rug as well as the sage green curtains.
Here’s the bedding we currently have…
And the rug we moved into the bedroom…
Our bedding is pretty neutral, which is great, but I want to add a little bit of color. I’m in love with navy decor so I’m thinking about bringing out the navy in the rug and updating the shams. The shams usually end up on the floor when we’re sleeping, so I need a darker color to keep them from looking stained like the current ones. I’m so blessed to have a mom who loves to sew, and who taught me to sew, but I still can’t get it together to do it myself. So I’ll be sending her whatever fabric I pick out. 🙂
I originally thought some sort of geometric pattern on the shams would look good to contrast with the floral pattern on the duvet cover. Here are a few I liked…
I also like this one, but it may be too similar to the patterns on the rug.
I’m now leaning toward a solid navy on the shams and a smaller patterned throw pillow…maybe in a different color.
I’m so indecisive about this room (and any room in my own house) which is probably why it’s taken me so long to decorate! What do you think? Patterned shams? Solid shams? Patterned throw pillow? Solid throw pillow? I’d love your input!
