I’ve been pinning tons of ideas (man are there a lot out there!) for our girls’ nursery and have finally come up with some kind of concrete idea of what I’d like to do. I’m going for a light and airy look, to open up the room and make it feel bigger. Our home has mainly cool blues and grays so I’d like to have this room flow with the rest of the house. I’m trying my best to use items we already have as well as DIY a few things to keep our costs down.
Here’s what I’m thinking…
I discussed the windows here and used the curtain fabric as my main color/pattern for the room. I’m going neutral everywhere else since it’s a small room. The curtains are being made as we speak, and I recently found bamboo shades in the perfect size for $15 each on Craigslist. I was a tad bit happy about the find seeing as they typically go for $45 each brand new!
Our cribs (we’ll be using two though only one is pictured) are from Ikea and also a great deal at $99 each. We initially wanted the Gulliver crib but of course they were out of stock and the closest Ikea is a bit of a drive for us. This one isn’t much different, just a little girlier, which we’re OK with. Also from Ikea is a 3 drawer dresser that we already have.
And that World Market pendant? I’m in love with it…we’ll see if we can work it into our budget. 🙂
I also have a white shag rug that I’ll use in there on top of the hardwood floors. I’ll do some sort of frame arrangement on the walls, and I’m thinking of making the girls’ mobiles out of branches to add a little bit of a rustic touch.
What do ya’ll think so far?
