Last Sundays message at church was on being blessed and blessing others. It was a very timely message; during the holidays we can easily forget what it means to be blessed, what truly matters in life.
I couldn’t help but to reflect on all the amazing blessings God has given us this past year. Last year at this time, my family was praying hard for not one, but two miracles. My aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer, and my grandma was in the hospital recovering from a massive surgery and fighting for her life.
As of this fall, my aunt is in remission; and not only did my grandma have a full recovery, she danced the night away with us at our wedding this past September.
My family and I learned an important lesson this year: It’s not up to us to understand why God allows things to happen the way they do, but it is up to us to trust Him and thank Him for everything and every circumstance.
The past few weeks have been so busy for many of us. It’s easy to get caught up in the little details of the holiday season. Remember what it’s all about: the miracle of Jesus coming into this world, and into our lives.
Whether you believe in Him or not, I encourage you to truly cherish your loved ones this holiday season. Life is a precious blessing.
I am signing off from the blog for 2013. Charlie and I are fortunate to have time off for the holidays and are excited to spend time with our families for our first Christmas. We look forward to a new year and new adventures!
